About the Department :
The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1962, offering Mathematics at UG and PG level. The faculty take efforts for developing foundation, understanding, logical thinking, problem solving skills in mathematics among the students. Students are imparted Mathematical education founded on value based academic principles where in all involved contribute effectively, efficiently and responsibly. The faculties are involved for the overall development of students through academic and co-curricular activities of the college.

Highlights of the Syllabus under NEP 2020:
Mathematics is the core of every academic discipline and essential to development of science and technology. The present syllabus has been designed as per the requirement of National Education Policy (NEP-2020). Syllabus includes pure and applied mathematics as per the present need of industry and employability.
UG (B.Sc.) Syllabus of Mathematics includes the topics such as Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Vector analysis. Partial Differential Equations and Calculus of Variations, Mathematical Methods, Mechanics, Real and Complex Analysis, Linear algebra, Numerical Methods, Relativity, Statistics and Probability Theory. Apart from these, some Vocational Skill Enhancement Courses (VSEC) are introduced in the curriculum, so as to develop logical thinking, problem solving and innovative skills of the students to orient themselves to learn the other subjects.
P.G (M.Sc.) Syllabus of Mathematics includes the topics such as Algebra, Topology, Differential equations, Integral equations, Real Analysis, Differential geometry, Classical mechanics, Number theory, Fluid dynamics, Functional analysis, Complex Analysis, Advanced Mathematical Methods, Partial Differential Equations, , Advanced Numerical Methods, Operations Research , Cosmology, Statistics with R-Programming. Apart from these, student will learn Research Methodology, they undertake On-Job Training (OJT) or Field Project, Research Projects are introduced in the curriculum, so as to provide experienced learning, develop research innovative skills of the students.
