Sexual Harassment Committee (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal)
Aims and Objectives:
- To instil positive seif-esteem and confidence in the female students so that they can take right decision in and for-their lives.
- To implement the policy related to prevention of sexual harassment.
- To resolve complaints by the aggrieved complainant.
- Redressal Mechanism: Complaint → Inquiry → Fact checking → Redressal
- To maintain complete confidentiality.
- Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)
The college established the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to take care of sexual harassment of girls and women at workplace as per the direction given in “The sexual harassment of women at workplace, Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal Act 2013”. The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act was notified on 9th December 2013 to provide a safe and secure environment to women at the workplace. According to the guidelines given, ICC committee has been constituted. The Internal Complaints Committee is the initial in-house body which must be approached for filing of a complaint relating to sexual harassment by the aggrieved women. The Committee has a major role to play in the fulfilment of objectives laid down under the Act. The major function of the Internal Complaints Committee is to implement the policy related to the prevention of sexual harassment, resolve complaints by the aggrieved and recommend actions to be taken by the employer. The college conducts workshops and guest lectures of eminent personalities from the respective fields to sensitize the students of both the genders about this act. Dr. Ms. Suhas Khandare, Head, Department of Microbiology is the Presiding Officer of ICC. The important role of ICC is as follows:
- Providing protection to women against sexual harassment at the workplace,
- To prevent sexual harassment, and
- To provide a redressal mechanism for complaints relating to sexual harassment at the workplace
- Women’s Cell
Women Empowerment and Gender Equality are essential for the sustainable economic growth and social development of society and nation. Women Cell aims to create awareness amongst women about their rights and duties. It also provides a platform for women to share their experiences or views about gender inequalities, their status in society and suggest ways to empower themselves. The objective of the Women Cell is to intellectually enrich and uplift women students.
Women’s Cell deals with conducting the awareness programs and sensitization of gender issues among the students and staff of the institute. The main objectives of the Women’s Cell are:
- To foster gender sensitization of the students, faculty, research scholars and non-teaching staff of the college.
- To promote gender equity among the stakeholders.
- To create awareness about women empowerment and gender equity through various activities like Guest lectures, counselling of girl students, awareness programs related to sexual and mental harassment, safety measures, financial independence of women, career development, self-defence training, etc.
- To ensure gender equity is integrated into operational practices and procedures through equality of opportunity.
To facilitate a gender responsive administrative, teaching and learning in the college.

- Major Activities
- A Debate Competition was organized for under-graduate and post-graduate students to celebrate International Women’s Day on 8th March 2022 by the Centre for Women Studies and Services (CWSS), Bajaj College of Science, Wardha.
- Online Guest Lecture on “Human Values and Professional Ethics” wasorganized for under-graduate and post-graduate students on Friday, 6th May 2022 by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Centre for Women Studies and Services (CWSS), Bajaj College of Science, Wardha.
- A motivational talk on “Women Empowerment: Legal aspects” by Adv. Padma Chandekar was organized to celebrate International Women’s Day on 10th March 2021 by the Center for Women Studies and Services (CWSS) and Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Bajaj College of Science, Wardha.
- Online Seminar competition on the topic “Women who inspired me the most” was organized on 13th March 2021 by the Center for Women Studies and Services (CWSS) and Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Bajaj College of Science, Wardha.
- 3MAH GIRLS BN NCC, Nagpur (Girls battalion, NCC Unit), Bajaj College of Science, Wardha organized Blood Haemoglobin Checking Camp at Bajaj College of Science, Wardha on 22nd September 2019.
- A Self Defence Talk and Hands-on Training Workshop was organized by 3 MAH GIRLS BN NCC, NAGPUR (Unit of Bajaj College of Science, Wardha) on 20th January 2020 in association with Swamsiddha NGO, Wardha. More than 100 students and cadets participated in the event.
- The NSS unit of Bajaj College of Science organized a Skill oriented much needed workshop on ‘Fabrication of LED bulb for gram Akoli, Ta: Seloo, Dist: Wardha on 11th Jan 2018. Training session was hosted by Dr. Ganesh There, Scientist MGIRI Wardha who gave the training to ‘Women’s Savings Group’ about how to fabricate and assemble a LED Bulb.
- The CWSS students voluntarily participated and donated blood In Blood Donation Camp. Students’ haemoglobin was also checked. This programme was organized by Alumni Association of JB and Rotary club, Gandhi City, Wardha on 22nd September 2018 at J. B. College of Science, Wardha.
- The CWSS students arranged a programme on Self-Defence on 5th January 2019. In this programme PSI, Wardha Station, Ms. Meghali Gawande from Damini Pathak, addressed the students on different issues related with women safety. She stated different remedies and guided the students regarding the safety of women.
- The Centre for Women’s Studies and Services, J.B. College of Science, Wardha celebrated International Women’s Day on 8th March 2018. Ad. Dr.Kshipra Singam, Dept. of Law, Yashwant Mahavidyalaya, Wardha stated different laws for women related with sexual harassment at workplace and did the counselling of more than 100 girl students of UG and PG as well as extension activities.
- Dr. Manisha Ithape-Jadhav from Viveki Jan Samruddhi Subodhini, Amravati, exclusively for the girl students of the college guided them on the topic “Laigik v mansikaarogya ani suraksha” on 15th Sept. 2017.
